GOING UP THE COUNTRY (BABY DON’T YOU WANNA GO)
by Elisabeth Geier
What exactly is it about Diane Keaton that she always looks so easy, breezy, beautiful, even in the most ridiculous power suit? In Baby Boom it’s all shoulder pads and pussybows, patent leather belts and one particularly…
BABY BOOM IS THE BEST, BTW. One summer I was bored and lazy, so I popped this B into the DVD player. After the closing credits rolled, I went downstairs and my mother said “Look what’s just starting on TV” and OMG it was BABY BOOM. I sat down and watched it straight through. BEST DAY EVER.

VIBES is a movie starring Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum that I have seen, that I own, that I enjoy, and for which I have made a fake Criterion cover. Now I have said things about it on a website, which you can read by clicking this hyperlinked text. <End Transmittal>

I promise I’m done.
Here we have Vibes, in which Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum play psychics searching for the source of all the world’s psychic energy in Ecuador. (Spoiler Alert: they also fall for each other!) Julian Sands and Peter Falk costar.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]Kate Bush, “Get Out of My House”
My all-time favorite spook song for the season. Best part’s at 3:12, where Kate and the menacing demon voice act out The Runaway Bunny—if The Runaway Bunny had been written by Satan, that is.

Debbie Harry, “French Kissin’ (in the U. S. A.)”
The song is quite terrible (natch—it was written by Roseanne’s nemmy Chuck Lorre), but the sentiment is not.
